I doodle

I doodle,
and she doodles too,
Little hands follow,
seeing what I do.

I paint,
and she paints as well,
In my creating,
her imagination swells.

When I’m making,
she learns to explore,
In my small acts,
her creativity soars.

As mothers, we often have to fight our way back to creativity after having children. The nature of our role sees that creativity dimmed, overshadowed by new responsibilities and the constant needs of others.

But here’s the thing—our whole being benefits from embracing creativity, even if it looks different than in our maiden days.

Yes, we might have to fight chubby fingers for the pencil, rush through our doodles, and share our creative tools—allowing them to break and snap in ways that would’ve once made us cringe. Yet, in doing so, something magical happens.

When we allow ourselves to create with our children, we give them the space to learn how to create too.

They need to see our art in all its forms, whether it’s a simple doodle, painting squiggles, or even taking a photo.

Life is about creating. And our children—our true little masterpieces—learn from our art, our craft, and even our doodles.
