Magic

‘I have always believed in the magic of childhood
and think that if you get your life right that magic should never end.’

— Colin Thompson

Today I worked in Year 2 at a local catholic school, and all things considered, it wasn't a bad day for me. It passed swiftly, wrapped in an air of ease, and I returned home without feeling too exhausted. Yet, within the classroom, as we drifted through the lessons, a pervasive lack of magic hung in the air. I couldn't escape the feeling that the fastest way to strip a child of their magical essence is the early embrace of institutionalisation.

In that confined space, where youthful energy is restrained, and the nurturing embrace of a loving, divine mother is replaced by the impersonal commands of routine—sit, still, be quiet—it all feels amiss, a departure from the natural order of things.

Magic, I'm certain, resides not within those structured walls but in the vast expanse of the great outdoors, within the warmth of family, and in the very essence of childhood itself. Do you not recall? The truly enchanting moments of youth—the anticipation of what wonders might unfold next? Collecting caterpillars and flowers, sketching grand masterpieces, unravelling the mysteries of the backyard?

To rekindle the flicker of magic within your child, consider walking the path of organicschooling. Make a commitment to nurturing freer-range, barefoot beauties, granting them the freedom to explore the magic that surrounds them and lies within, allowing their imaginations to soar boundlessly.

Choose freedom, create magic, unleash childhood.
